You’re in for a treat if this is to be your first nocturnal colour run because you’ll mingle and run alongside other color-drenched runners. We’re all about fun runs, and this is no exception.
Dubbed “the brightest, most fun 5K out there” and known as Asia’s most Instagrammable run, Sketchers’ Blacklight Run 2017 on 28 October turns into a party you’ll never forget.

3. GIF Festival
This week-long festival at our local art enclave will feature creations by young motion graphic artists in a showcase of 50 GIFs, both on screens and in larger-than-life projections. The organizers promise to break the walls down between stuffy art galleries and the public whilst showcasing art as a form of entertainment.
Other than hypnotising works on display, the exhibition also presents a range of GIF-related activities and workshops, including a ‘living photos’ GIF making masterclass with homegrown photographer Aik Beng Chia, a lesson on stop-motion animation for the little ones, and a session with curator Steve Lawler as he speaks about the featured artists and their artworks.
Psst, we heard the opening night (Thu, Oct 5) will feature the likes of DJ Kiat, Intriguant and electronic duo .gif, so you definitely don’t wanna miss out.

5. World Snack Fair
Whether you’re a fan of the countless Kitkat flavours Nestle has blessed us with, or in love with the crackers and chips by Calbee, World Snacks Fair 2017 has it all.
This fair will feature more than 500 brands from all over the world, including some of our favourites such as Glico, Pokka, Meiji, Lotte and Arizona. Some brands will be selling limited edition flavours for some of their snacks, so now’s your chance to grab hold of them!
Don’t worry about burning a hole in your pocket since there is the “mega sale” area where you can buy any 3 packets/bottles/bundles of snacks for a mere $10.
That’s not all – they will be bringing in Ichiban kuji for Otakus who wish to try their luck at getting some rad anime merchandise as well. A maid and butler cafe will also be stationed on site for those who enjoy themed cafes or would like to experience one. Lastly, there’ll be a DIY station for you to create your own version of Giant Pockys, Oreos and Arizona teas.

6. Go For A Meal At The New Yishun Park Hawker Centre
Managed by Timbre Group, this 800-seat hawker centre which opened earlier last week already seems to follow the success of Timbre+. Although most of the hype surrounds the hawker centre’s cashless payment, high-tech facilities, and pinball machines, the main feature that deserves most attention is the food.
To ensure meals are affordable for residents, each of the 45 cooked food stalls has at least one basic meal that is priced at $3. Of those stalls, look out Ah Tan Wings’s modern version of the humble Nasi Lemak.
Their Atas Wing Meal ($5.50) features two Har Cheong Kai chicken wings that are double-fried to golden brown perfection and are studded with crisp and light crumbs.
7. ACM After Dark: Horror MashUp
If you’re not willing to fork out $60 for Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Night 7, this may be a good alternative. Watch Asian supernatural beliefs come to life at Asian Civilisation Museum’s well-loved annual Halloween event on 26 Oct.
Activities run from 7 pm to 11 pm while the museum opens till 12 midnight so enjoy a ghostly movie screening, hear haunting tales in the galleries, and make your own spooky souvenir to take home.

9. Artscience Museum’s Into The Wild
What a time to be alive — now you can plant a tree in Sumatra without even being there. We’re talking about ArtScience Museum’s latest permanent development in collaboration with Lenovo, Google, and WWF Singapore, Into the Wild. The augmented reality adventure through the Rimbang Baling rainforest in Sumatra tells the story of an urgent need for conservation.
As one of Sumatra’s last rainforests left untouched by rampant deforestation, Rimbang Baling is a vital territory for many critically endangered animals such as pangolins, tapirs, mousedeers, and orangutans. It is also home to 25 of the 371 Sumatran Tigers in the wild – all of whom you’ll meet on the virtual reality adventure.
Into the Wild ends with a cinematic experience directed by leading local filmmaker Brian Gothong Tan. The same state-of-the-art animation used in the AR experience is projected onto a massive screen, showing the perspective of the five endangered animals, complete with real-world data about them and the forests of Southeast Asia.
With every virtual tree planted at the end of the mission, coupled with a pledge to World Wildlife Federation (WWF), a real tree will be planted in Rimbang Baling to restore its tiger corridor. The best part? You’ll get the exact coordinates of your tree and updates on its growth and progress.
