Facebook just got an instant upgrade.
We are slowly seeing Zuckerberg’s aim to consolidate all “internet features” in one and essentially make Facebook’s “The Internet” crystallised. This was legitimised with Facebook’s announcement of their new “job-listing” feature that would allow both companies and job-seekers to connect easily.
This is a first for social media giants and something that truly differentiates Facebook from other social media sites like Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat etc.
Employment Woes
The hiring process is not just tiring and relentless for potential employees, it’s a difficult process for employers to find suitable candidates as well. According to Facebook, about 40% of the small businesses in US found more difficult to file jobs.
“Many small businesses post their job openings on their page” a company spokesman told Reuters. As such, noting that businesses are already connecting with employees indirectly through Facebook, Facebook hence decided to fill the “thriving” void and ease communications between both parties.
How It Works
Businesses can now officially post job openings on their Facebook page. This was previously done through normal posts that might get unnoticed. But with the new “job bookmark” section, companies would be able to reach out to job seekers and on the other hand, job seekers can easily find and apply for jobs.
It will be a hassle-free experience to “create a job post, track applications and communicate directly with applicants.” Communication can be conveniently done through Messenger, whether it is to review applications or contact them. Just like any other posts, these job listings can be boosted to reach a larger and targeted audience.
With a specific section set aside for job applications on Facebook, one can consolidate their social media and job-searching time all together on one app.
Applicants no longer have to go through the hassle of going to a third-party site/platform to apply for the job as a form will open on their Facebook browser that is “pre-populated with information from their profile on Facebook”. You can, of course, edit and make changes.
However, this feature is only currently available in the US and Canada, though it’s probably only a matter of time before it gets here.
