Higher reliability, better gps routing, and maybe even lower pricing?
When the authorities gave their green light for taxi drivers to implement the surge pricing, all 5 taxi companies but ComfortDelGro went onboard. But like all Singaporeans, being content is never our forte. Our cabbies then decided that the JustGrab pricing isn’t for them and is in fact causing them lower earnings.
All These Unfolded Whilst ComfortDelGro Spectated
Just days after Grab launched the dynamic pricing, ComfortDelGro has now announced that it will roll out a flat fare option on its booking app. They are the largest taxi fleet in Singapore and their app has been around for quite some time – and according to the trials conducted by The New Paper this app is outshining Grab and Uber’s platforms.
How It Works
For now, the flat fare is only available for bookings via the app from April 10 onwards. It’ll show you two fares – one with the flat pricing and the other based on meter. This form of pricing ensures that you would not be paying for the extra travel time due to traffic. The best part of it all is that you’re free to choose.
No more sitting on pins and needles, worrying about the exorbitant charges as a result of the traffic delays.
For additional enroute stops, it’ll cost you a $5 charge. The same charges are applicable if you choose to change to a further destination. Likewise for Electronic Road Pricing charges.
Their GPS Game Trumps Uber And Grab’s
I’m sure we have all encountered the arduous process of getting your Grab/Uber driver to the correct pick up destination. Never mind those minute details when it comes to pick-up, for example if it should have been at the basement or at level 3 – sometimes the car just wanders off to a completely different location.
With Comfort’s app, you can be assured that there’s more reliability since after all, no algorithm can beat our taxi drivers. With their years of driving experience and the trainings they’ve clocked in (which Grab/Uber drivers do not have!), you can be assured that there won’t be any unnecessary detours.
Booking-wise, it was also faster – probably due to a low demand as news of the flat fares have yet to reach the public.
Comfort’s bringing a whole new game to us. This option will provide us with an upfront certainty for bookings – which we all will come to appreciate.
Meanwhile, try the flat fares once it’s rolled out, because we’re pretty sure it’s only a matter of time before they choose to hop onto the dynamic pricing. After all, flat fares are only profitable if they are subject to demand and supply – which are dynamic.
