If you’re a dance enthusiast or if you’ve always wanted to learn how to groove, then you’ll want to keep a close eye on this list.

‘Got To Move’ (GTM) is an initiative by the National Arts Council (NAC), it is a nationwide movement that celebrates the diversity of dance in Singapore. There’s something for everyone; from dance showcases to free dance classes! Regardless of expertise, you can be sure to expect a treat out of this.

Dance classes are just amongst the long list of freebies one has access to in this exhilarating month.

GTM Spotlight

GTM Spotlight is set to happen in the very heart of the civic district of Singapore, spicing up the already-culturally enriched zone into something more. You can expect a series of dance showcases, performances and most notably, the ‘GTM Dance-Walk’ that is scheduled to unravel on the road right in front of the National Gallery Singapore city hall steps.

‘GTM Dance-Walk’ redefines your typical morning-walk with a twist. How often do you get to sashay your way down the road right in front of the former supreme court building? Not to forget the upbeat tunes to kick-start your Sunday morning.

NAC’s Got To Move: Mass Dance Music Video Shoot

Ever dreamt about starring in a music video? Well this could be your shot!

(Dance Rehearsals, Wednesday 18 Oct, 2 Sessions at 10.30am and 4.30pm)

A publicity music video for GTM will be filmed so if you’d like to see your face popping up on YouTube’s homepage, then wait no longer. This music video will be filmed on 22nd October and prior dance sessions will be provided at no cost!

Bragging Rights 2

(Sunday October 15, 12pm to 6pm)

‘Bragging Rights 2’ is an all style dance battle that aims to provide a leveled competition ground for dancers of all ages and dance genres. Familiar with dance genres like popping or locking?

Then mark your calendars; participation is free and so is admission for audience members!

This year’s Bragging Rights features an exhibition-type battle named 7 To Smoke, where 8 top local dancers – each representing a dance genre – battle it out like never before.

Got To Move 2107: R! Bazaar and Kids’ Showcase

A gathering through dance, music, shopping and food, what more could one ask for?

This bazaar highlights various children dance groups showcasing what they’re capable of.

Fret not if you’re not into watching performances – there’ll be food stalls and even shopping opportunities right in the bazaar itself. Full list of participating vendors here.

Free KPOPX Fitness Classes

How can we forget Kpop music and dance moves in the midst of this festivity? Take that and mash it up with fitness and you have KPOPX Fitness.

As part of the effort to promote GTM this year, National Art Council has collaborated with KpopX Fitness to provide free fitness classes – that’s right, now there’s no excuse for you to not get active.

Youth Got To Move: Ballroom Edition

Finally we’ve tangoed our way to the bottom of this list. Designed as a ‘for youth by youth’ activity, our local Samba and Tango duos will provide free workshops for their peers.
