This is for all the aspiring Picassos out there

With Google Maps, Google Drive and a host of other useful tools, Google has managed to make every aspect of our lives easier and more convenient. From navigation to lifestyle needs, Google’s got us covered, and today, it’s launching AutoDraw— to help aspiring Picassos and Van Goghs create decent looking drawings.

AutoDraw is a web-based tool that uses machine learning to transform your casual doodle into a work of art. If you’re wondering how it works, the algorithms in the match your doodles with professional drawings, like the ones below:

The app is free and works on any phone, computer or tablet, so you can design your next birthday card or infographic at home, or on the go.

If this concept sounds familiar, that’s because it’s similar to the Google experiment QuickDraw. It’s a mini-game with instructions on what objects to draw, then the AI will take 20 seconds to recognise it. If you haven’t tried QuickDraw yet, check it out here!

While QuickDraw is more game-style, AutoDraw is as a tool for you to design a poster or card, or even put together your own colouring book. If you’re happy with your doodles just the way they are, you can turn off the AutoDraw function to preserve your masterpiece.

If you’re an artist who would love to contribute to the project, you can submit your work here!

For the rest of us who are slightly less artistically inclined, it’s time to challenge AutoDraw to recognise our scribbles and doodles!
