Yet another month has passed by. This March, there are endless activities you can indulge in.
Weekends are precious but simply slothing your weekend at home will be truly wasteful. So, here are 5 events (yet again) that will hopefully get you up and about, not too late for you to have a marvelous March this 2017. This time, we give you options to Party, Watch, Understand, Stand-out and Immerse.
PARTY: Grease Sing-a-long
If you saw John Travolta as your childhood idol, or if Saturday Night Fever was your go-to song, you’ll be happy to know that The Projector is giving you the chance to dance to your heart’s content.
Join The Projector for a fun-filled evening of song, dance and a lot of gelled hair and dramatic curls in one place. Your hosts, Becca D’Bus and GloGlo will make sure your night will end with a “bang” as you jam alongside the electrifying energy and glass-shattering chops during screening.
If you need a new haircut or are suddenly inspired to look like one of the Grease guys, The Panic Room will be popping by at the foyer with one-of-a-kind hairstylings with UPPERCUT hair pomades. If you’re a fan of vinyls and all thing vintage, their musical arm — Barbershop Music will be selling their exclusive vinyls as well.
What is a party without drinks? Soak up in the 50s vibe at their new foyer bar, INTERMISSION, which will keep those pomps high and shots down for jollyful after-party with DJ Bobby Luo.
When: 25 March 2017; Barber opens at 6pm and After party from 10.30pm
Where: The Projector 6001 Beach Road, #05-00, Golden Mile Tower, 199589
$25 per ticket
WATCH: Movies under the stars
I don’t know about you but watching movies is probably one of the best ways to spend quality time with your loved ones. Without having to converse directly, the sheer thought of sitting together in the theatres going through the emotional journey of the movie is pretty nice.
Now, add the chilling night breeze, the sloshing sound of the waves crashing onto the shore and the cozy beach vibes in the dark to your movie date nights.
Yes, you’re about to get that in Singapore. Part of Sentosa’s Thrillogy is their free movies by the beach at Palawan Green every weekend starting from 7.30pm. This movie session has already started last week with all 3 episodes of Taken and Maze Runner. X-MEN lovers, it’s about time you head down the next week as they will be screening all 8 parts of the X-MEN series over the weekends.
But wait, Sentosa’s Thrillogy doesn’t end here: There is a Haunted Thrill through the military barracks of Fort Sentosa and a bunch of 1-for-1 deals for students that includes Wave House Florider for 2 at the price of $35. Oh, did I mention night ziplining as well? It is truly #thestateoffun at Sentosa.
These promotions and events will run for the whole month of March. Find out more here.
Understand: World Press Photo Exhibition
Photos do speak a thousand words. Last year, we’ve got Alan Kurdi together with other ground-shaking, iconic photos that ignited conversations around the world.

The power of photos is something that should not be forgotten. A single photo could convey the multiplicity of issues and varying layers of conversations. Which is why The World Press Photos is an event you need to go to.
The World Press Photo is back again at the National Museum whilst on their international tour (Spain, Germany, Japan, Australia). It is known as the “Oscars” of photojournalism and is all about “Capturing Imaginations. Changing Life”.
“From private moments to public shows of solidarity, events frozen in time by photographers from 21 countries will be exhibited in Singapore next month.”
A total of 145 prize-winning photographs from 8 categories such as Daily Life and Contemporary Issues will be on display. These photos feature 41 photographers for their impactful images.
There will be guided tours and interview panels with one of the world’s most notable photojournalists who were winners of the contest: Warren Richardson and Kazuma Obara. Local ST photojournalists will share their experiences on panel as well.

STAND-OUT: HIPSTER FEST
If you feel like you are not part of the mainstream crew (aka no, Nike Roshe and Chainsmokers), this might just be the festival for you.
Hipster Fest is the first ever in Singapore to bring you the latest music, fashion, food and a whole package of entertainment. We presume they won’t be sold in normal tuckshops as that would be too mainstream for these hipsters. Nor will the music be your typical pop music. And the fashion items will not be any brands that you would have heard of.
“No matter your age, for the trendy, hipster in you!” — it’s time to embrace your inner desires to be the hipster you are. There is a hipster in every generation, anyway.
When: 11th – 12th March 2017
Where: The Foothills @ Fort Canning Park
Free admission.

Immerse: Into The Wild
Marina Bay Sands is not a place Singaporeans go on a day-to-day basis. While some of us may find MBS a turn-off for its touristy appeal , there are some pretty enticing exhibitions that could expose us to the world we don’t usually get in-touch with.
This month, dive Into The Wild as the ArtScience Museum transforms into a virtual rainforest. You will meet the wildlife of the Southeast Asian rainforests and see them in action in their natural habitat through the lens of your smartphone devices.
This is a collaboration among the ArtScience Museum, Google, Lenovo, and WWF, in association with Panasonic and Qualcomm, working with the creative talents of MediaMonks and Singaporean artist, Brian Gothong Tan.
Most importantly, it is for a good cause as well — with every virtual tree planted in this museum, and a pledge made to WWF, a real tree will be planted in a rainforest in Indonesia. This restoration of the Rimbang Baling Wildlife Reserve in Sumatra, Indonesia is central to the exhibition.
Be sure to reserve the Tango device before heading down here.
