DSM is a multi label concept store that first opened on Dover Street in Mayfair, London. They have since expanded to other cities, namely New York and Tokyo, but their original London space is unlike any other. With the Designers being able to design their own space with their creative flair, you would think you’re entering a fashion exhibition. Fret not, their Singapore store at Dempsey is also expected retain the brand’s modern, edgy feel. The brand will be housed at Como Dempsey together with other lifestyle and food establishments, in collaboration with COMO Group, known for their work in luxury hospitality.
The reason why the brand has gained traction is thanks to its creator, Rei Kawakubo — founder of the brand Comme Des Garcon. DSM primarily offers Comme Des Garcon stocks as well as other coveted brands such as Paradis3, Dreamland Syndicate and DSM exclusive collections such as the Vetements x Reebok Pump Supreme. Their store is the epitome of stylish casual wear. It essentially is a ‘Hipster Enclave’ with more obscure labels than the average Singaporean has heard of.
What to expect
Good news for us as the brand has decided to spare us the suspense with a launch of their online e-commerce store. Labelled the DSMS E-Shop, it retails clothing, accessories and sneakers from more than 15 labels and collaborations. One disadvantage, however, is that no matter how much you spend, a standard shipping fee of SGD 15 still applies. At least there won’t be a need to trawl the web looking for sites that carries and ships these coveted labels to our tiny island.
DSM’s Vice-President has also reassured us that the collections in the e-shop will also be in the physical store that’s slated to open in July. Their online store has already sold out on items such as the Vans Vault x Undercover sneaker (below).
DSM is definitely not for everyone. The location itself speaks for the traffic it hopes to draw. But with crowd favourites such as the American streetwear label Anti Social Club and cool sneaker collaborations, you’re bound to find a thing(or two) that you’ll want to have.
