We’ve got you covered.
Is it May, already? Here’s a list of events to keep you occupied.
Speed Eat And Score A Free Chili Crab Meal
It’s pretty common for restaurants to organize speed eating challenges to let customers try their hand at winning a free meal – and it’s always the standard items like burgers or wings. But Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood just made the game more interesting with their Chili Crab challenge.
Imagine stuffing yourself silly with 2kg worth of succulent crab meat, 6 mantou buns and the sweet, spicy sauce all within the 30-minute time limit. If that sounds achievable to you, then this Chili Crab challenge is right up your alley.
Failure to complete the challenge, comes at a price tag of $100, but otherwise, you’ll be treated to a free Chili Crab meal. We think this challenge is rather doable, so it’s definitely worth a try. There’s a waiting list, so we recommend signing up fast before the slots are full.

This art book fair features catalogues, photography books, indie and world renowned magazines – perfect for the fellow hipsters out there. Scope out what’s beyond our shores with offerings from Japan, South Korea and Indonesia. Or you can #supportlocal and pick up and indie magazine from Sand Magazine or Rubbish.

Party Like Great Gatsby
For those of you who’ve read The Great Gatsby as a literature student or watched the highly-anticipated movie, this event allows you to watch the magical madness transform to live. Party like Gatsby is actually an established international event, known for their intense shows and wild parties. Our Singaporean version will feature a beach party together with an indoor venue since of course Jay Gatsby couldn’t do with too much sand and heat.
Held at the Tanjong Beach Club, the event will transform the area into a Singapore circa 1920. Imagine a port full of activity with partygoers spilling into the nearby streets.
Put on your finest attire and step your feet into this extraordinary beach party. The green light will guide your way.

Plough Your Way Through The Savour Festival
The annual Savour festival is back for the 6th consecutive year running. Celebrating Singaporeans innate love for food and their gourmet tastebuds, the Savour festival is a must for all foodies.
With a mission to only bring forth the best in food and drinks, the event is expected to host celebrity chefs, gourmet markets and some of the famous restaurant dishes served at bite-sized portions.
Be prepared for an out-of-this-world gastronomical experience at the Marina Bayfront area this May. While not much has been said about this year’s vendors, we wouldn’t expect to have anything less since the last one featured restaurant Labyrinth, Bo Innovation among 30 others.
One tip we have for you is to go down with an empty stomach as you do not want to deny yourself of any of the delicious cuisines there!

Cinema Under The Stars For Free
Whether you are a fan of mainstream comedies or cult indie flicks, it is time to take your movies to the great outdoors. Cinema alfresco – that is, watching movies on a huge screen under the stars – is getting more popular here, with diverse film options and price points.
This one by MovieMob is inspired by the Jurong drive-in cinema, Singapore’s only open-air cinema in the 1970s. This May 5, at the Urban Plaza outside Viva Business Park, they will be screening Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them for free. Soak in the atmosphere and enjoy a night under the stars with your family and friends rather than just watching a movie in a dark room.
