Yishun has been recently plagued with a spate of negative press over the recent years, so much so that someone had to create a website documenting all its crazy happenings. But it seems like Timbre Group is about to make Yishun great again.
Good news is finally here for its residents and those who reside in the North.
This September, the new Yishun Park hawker centre is set to have 45 cooked food stalls, approximately 750 family-friendly seating and it will be naturally ventilated.

Seamless Experience
A 3-in-1 mobile application will be implemented within six months of its opening to facilitate the use of cashless payments with store credits and placing meal orders electronically.
Diners can enjoy a 10% discount with the usage of the application, and Timbre will be working with existing online food delivery service providers to explore delivery options.
Additionally, Timbre will be pushing to implement a Radio Frequency Identification tray return system that is integrated with the centralised dishwashing area.
This would streamline the tray return processes, enabling cleaners to focus on just cleaning tables and common areas. The cleaners’ workload would also be reduced without the need to sort and return the used crockery.
Remaining Affordable
To maintain affordability for its patrons, each stall must have a basic meal priced at $3.00.
Timbre is also looking into bulk purchasing of ingredients to help defray the costs of raw food materials for the hawkers, in an effort to keep costs low.
Preservation Of Hawker Culture
There will be two ‘incubator stalls’ to be set aside for potential hawkers for a year-long incubation period.
Subsequently, Timbre will be helping to place them in its network of F&B outlets for future expansion plans.
A Winner Amidst The Rest
Timbre Group’s proposal was carefully selected from a pool of five contenders, and NEA said in a statement that it was chosen as “it showed a strong emphasis on social objectives, had various productivity measures.”
Aside from that, it consisted of innovative solutions to ensure that the hawker centre’s vibrancy is retained.

Family Oriented Design
Food aside, Timbre is planning to redefine hawker centres with unexpected facilities such as pinball machines and even arcade games.
This initiative is in line with the family-friendly image of the heartlands with a multitude of features for all ages, including child-friendly toilet facilities and family-friendly seating arrangements.
Also, it seems like Yishun residents can look forward to a slew of exciting activities with the implementation of weekend programmes to promote community and family bonding!
