If you think there’s only coffee, you’re going to be pleasantly surprised.
Calling all coffee lovers, the annual Singapore Coffee Festival is here! And this time, you’re in for 3-day long caffeine-induced high from 4 – 6 August 2017.
This year, you can expect over 100 exhibitors from both the coffee and cafe industry. It will be held at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre that is twice the size of the F1 Pit Building, where the event was hosted last year.
The prices for the tickets start at $18 for DBS and POSB cardholders, and Strait Times subscribers, whereas regular tickets are priced at $22. But, we are not complaining as each ticket earns you a festival goodie bag that consists of two sampling drinks and exclusive discounts at cafes till the end of August.
If the thought of coffee has already gotten you excited, here are 10 reasons why we think you should head down:
1.Good Old Coffee
Familiar names such as Common Man Coffee Roasters, Chye Seng Huat Hardware, Huggs Coffee will be continuing to showcase their craft. While some such as Huggs coffee will be serving their new creations like Cafe Bombon and…Turmeric Latte?
2. Do-It-Yourself Coffee Creations
Who said you can only customise your drinks at Starbucks?
At the Singapore Coffee Festival, you will be pleased to know that cafes like The Refinery Singapore will be offering unconventional yet interesting add-ons like the Whiskey, Gula Melaka Jelly and 5-spice Syrup.
If you’re spoilt for choices and can’t decide, you can always chose from their tailored cocktail menu with options such as the shaken La-Kopi and Chow-Kopi.
3. Coffee In A Cone
Also known as the most instagrammable coffee drink out there, The Coffee Academics Singapore (TCA) will be specially bringing this unique creation to the festival.
Savour the decadent chocolate-coated wafer cone with a piccolo latte or even with caffeine-free options like hot chocolate or a babycino.
4. Coffee Pork Buns?
With McDonald’s new Nasi Lemak Burger making news all over the internet, it’s time that we give this Coffee Pork Chop Bun some well-deserved publicity as well. This creation by Antoinette was made exclusive for the festival last year and it’s set to make its long awaited comeback this year!
Deep fried pork loin smothered with coffee glaze, topped off with caramelised onion and lettuce while being housed between house-made butter crusty white rolls – what’s there not to love?
5. Chill Out With Local Talents
Experiencing a caffeine overdose already? Take a break and relax with some live performance by our local talents.
Inch Chua, Tim De Cotta and LEW are some of the local talents who will be belting out songs on Saturday and Sunday over at the Sunset Wharf.
So take a sip out of your cuppa while you treat your ears to some great music.
6. AeroPress Championships
In case you don’t know what an AeroPress is, it is a special coffee-making device that functions as a plunger.
The winner will be winning a trip to Seoul to compete in the World AeroPress Championships in November.
7. Get Your Hands Dirty
The Singapore Coffee Festival is not just for coffee snobs, you can expect other programmes lined up for you, such as SWATi Flower Candy making which originates from Japan!
