Won’t it be awesome to watch the dazzling lights dance without having to freeze your fingers off?
Well, we all know that seeing the Northern Lights is obviously impossible considering how we’re right smack on the equator.
But you might be able to partially experience the Northern Lights through the Aurora Borealis inspired light installation featured in Singapore. iLight Marina Bay is Asia’s most sustainable light festival, illuminating iconic features of Marina Bay in spectacular fashion. Through their intelligent lighting system, you will get to see the the breathtaking kaleidoscopic display of light, colour and shadows. Singapore’s bayshore will be lit up by over 20 light installations like never before. With the theme “Lights and Nature”, this festival will get you thinking about the complementary nature of nature and light, especially how “light reconciles the push and pull between the constructed and the natural.”
The awaited “Northern Lights” part of iLight
Aurora Borealis is one natural feature that we can’t seem to stop talking about— with it’s poetic and effortless movements created by the fusion of nature and science.
Aleksandra Stratimirovic from Sweden will present his art light display that mimics the experience in Iceland or Norway. Stratimirovic is “all about the light design” and his works are simply breathtaking.
In Amsterdam
This Northern Light-inspired installation that you will get to see at Marina Bay uses a “carefully programmed light story performed with 100 vertically positioned light lines equipped with LED sources to emulate the elusive natural phenomenon.”
Other Light Installations and Local Talent
This light festival will also feature our local talent from the various educational institutions. It’s the largest institutional involvement yet, with National University of Singapore, Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore University of Technology and Design, LASALLE College of the Arts and Raffles College of Higher Education.

Beyond the Northern Lights
What is a festival without good food and music? iLight Marina Bay will host Gastrobeats at the Bayfront Event Space for a great time with nothing but good vibes.
There will be 2 festival hubs: The Fantastical World of eco.me and The Float @ Marina Bay, which will entail an environmental learning experience with live music and arts and an Art Zoo for the young (and the young-hearted) to play their hearts out at the colourful playground that has giant inflatable animal structures..
We’ve noticed that Uncle Ringo is one of the main sponsors, so I think we all have an idea of what kind of fun we might be getting ourselves into, in addition to the captivating wonder of lights.
The only downside? We still have to wait a one month to see it.
